Speech Input Equipment

CAY-23304A Telephone and Remote Control Unit

The unit pictured above is designated on its tag as being used with a TBM transmitter.  It is AC/DC powered and uses a push-pull pair of 35L6 for a speech amplifier. A lot of tube to make a line level signal.

AM Phone from the Couch

Trying to copy 5-character groups, 5 groups behind at 35WPM is a very intense experience.  For a more relaxed radio session, I have installed this radiophone remote next to one of the living room couches.  Hope it looks enough like a phone that it will be allowed to remain.  The shot above approximates closely my participation in the Old Military Radio Net of July 15, 2006 on 3885kc.  The only thing missing is the cup of java.

This unit was connected to key and drive my TCK transmitter, and receive audio from whatever receiver I plugged a long cord into.  The TCK has two input windings on the speech amplifier input.  One is for the local microphone and the other is a 500 ohm line level input that I connected this unit to.

CRV-50254 Speech Input Equipment

This unit is designated "For General Radio Use" on its tag, but its manual assigns it to the TBL-2 transmitter.  It has several stages of AF amplification, with push-pull 6V6s producing a couple of watts of output.  It has front panel control of transmit and receive audio gain, and a switch to select between two receivers.

I am using this to control and drive a homebrew transmitter that uses a pair of 811As in the modulator.
