TDE
The TDE, like the TBL, combines MF/HF in one
package, but is more compact. Frequency coverage is 300
to 1500kc and 1.5 to 18.1Mc. It runs off a motor-generator
unit built into the base of the transmitter. Unlike the
TBL, this transmitter does not share RF tubes. For MF,
the TDE uses an 801 master oscillator, an 807
multiplier/amplifier, and an 803 power amplifier. The
tube lineup on HF is the same but with an 837 master
oscillator. Power output is rated at 135W CW, 35W MCW,
and 30W AM. An 801 audio amplifier and 5U4G bias
rectifier are shared by MF and HF.
Mine is a TDE-3, CFN-52267-A made by
Farnsworth with an acceptance date of 4-29-44. It has a
220/440V, 3-phase, 60-cycle motor-generator. Other
models ran on 115VDC, 230VDC, or 110/220, 1-phase, 60
cycles.
